The Institute of Sociology was established in 1985 at the University of Szczecin. Research at the Department of Sociology is influenced by the traditions of focussing on regional social problems. Its programme of teaching and research studies provide knowledge for better understanding local and regional social issues.
In our Bachelor in Sociology courses, students are provided with the fundamental education for the discipline of Sociology. The fields of teaching activity are more practice-related areas of market and public opinion research. Three main courses are provided: applied sociology, sociology of culture and sociology of public health. In the MA program, students are prepared for more complex own research projects and interpretation of the results in the perspective of sociological theories.
